Sep. 14th, 2019 03:53 pmIt's always wonderful when you discover a new fandom and realize that there is already an amazing amount of content available. Getting in on the ground floor of a fandom has its own good points, but I prefer to immerse myself in a fandom when I can.
Thank you Netflix! The King's Avatar drama came up on my suggested list, and I was hooked. After binge watching that (had to wait a few weeks in between for new episodes, totally worth it) I found the translated webnovel (it's originally Chinese). 1667 chapters! It was like heaven, and I got very little sleep for a while there. Recently I've found a website that combines the chapters into sets that can be downloaded for Epub, so I have most of that on my phone to be read whenever. What I really like is that it's opened up a lot of content for me, there's a lot of asian webnovels translated nowadays, so I'm browsing through them as I go.
King's Avatar (Wikipedia) - The King's Avatar follows the story of Ye Xiu, a professional esports player living in Hangzhou, China. He is considered one of the best player of the video game Glory. Ye Xiu was previously captained an esports team called "Excellent Era", before being forced to resign from the team and leave the competitive scene due to his unwillingness to take part in any sponsorship to profit the team. Ye Xiu then works as a night-shift manager at Happy Internet Cafe, where he met Chen Guo, the owner of the cafe who are interested in forming a new esports team. While waiting his return to the competitive scene, Ye Xiu keeps playing to forge his skills and find newly talented players for his team.[7][8]
What that summary doesn't tell you is that Ye Xui is a complete Badass at the game, amazingly shameless, and really cares about the people around him. It's an interesting combination, there's a lot of action and really good character interaction to keep you hooked. Take my advice and check it out!
